Case Study: Walton Hall & Glasshouses, Cheshire

BCA were appointed to design the mechanical and electrical services for the Glasshouses Project at Walton Hall Estate, which was a Heritage Lottery Funded project. The Conservatory Range at Walton Hall are all horticultural buildings and consist of the Conservatory, the Vinery and the Shippon

A study was undertaken to review heating options, and the Client chose condensing gas-fired boiler plant as the most suitable option together with energy efficient controls to minimize consumption, cost and carbon emissions. 

Rainwater recovery from the Conservatory roof was implemented to be used for horticultural purposes.

Lighting was sensitively designed utilising LED luminaires interlinked with energy saving control systems to provide functional and efficient lighting whilst keeping in character with the buildings to enhance the traditional appearance and atmosphere.
