The project comprised the design of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) services for the new build Poole Gateway Church. The development provides a modern place of worship and community facility designed to support a wide range of activities, including services, gatherings, events, and outreach programmes.
The building required a highly flexible services solution capable of supporting both large congregational gatherings and smaller community uses. Variable occupancy levels, acoustic sensitivity, and the need for clear, unobtrusive architectural spaces all influenced the MEP design approach. Energy efficiency and ease of operation were also key considerations for long-term use by the church community.
A coordinated and adaptable MEP strategy was developed to support the multi-functional nature of the building. Systems were designed to provide efficient zoning and controllability, enabling different areas of the church to operate independently where required. Discreet service integration ensured that building services did not detract from the architectural and interior design intent. Lighting played a key role in enhancing both worship and community functions, with flexible control systems allowing different lighting scenes for varied uses. Mechanical systems were selected to ensure comfort, efficiency, and quiet operation during services and events.
The completed new build provides Poole Gateway Church with a high-quality, flexible, and energy-efficient facility that supports its growing congregation and community activities. The building services installation delivers reliable performance, ease of operation, and long-term adaptability.
